Ch. Avalon's Mocha Chip, "Mocha"
you will be remembered in my heart
Aug 20, 1997 - November 23, 2002
She was the dam of 16 offspring mostly living with families as companions, but was also a wonderful producer of Champion puppies, including Ch. Grandriver's Pumpkin Pie - aka "Pie" and Ch. Grandriver's Plymouth Rock - aka "Ozzie". Her 2nd and last litter will allow us to remember her by Ch. Grandriver's Sent by an Angel - aka "Angie".
Mocha attained her Canadian Championship in three straight shows at the age of 12 months, with her very first show winning a Puppy Group also winning Best of Breeds at other shows. Below is a picture of Mocha at 22 months of age winning Best of Opposite at a Labrador "Booster" defeating 53 other bitches entered, under Lab Breeder/Judge Bill Gugins.
Realizing how special such a girl could be, we wrote to Bill Gugins in thanking him for making Mocha special. This was his response:
"I am sorry for your loss as Mocha was a very nice bitch. To lose a dog of this caliber is always a tough loss. I hope for your sake you have something from her to work with, and keep part of her in your breeding program. For her BOS win was a very special win in such a tough, high quality class as was there in Kingston on that day."
